BATTEYFORD moved joint-top of the league’s second tier on Sunday with an emphatic 10-3 win at Taylor FC.

Cashing in with Championship leaders Oakwell Motel on County Cup duty, Battyeford’s Johnny Mitchell led the way with a four-goal haul.

Ashley Mackereth also hit a double with Ben Williams, Nigel Saddington, Bobby Evans and Jamie Brannan completing the tally.

Elsewhere, Dan Stanley scored Birstall St Patrick’s only goal as they were beaten 7-1 at St John Fisher Reserves, a result that keeps Birstall in the relegation zone.

But FC Pack Horse won 3-0 at Hartshead thanks to strikes from Liam Roe, Jordan Tailford and Danny Holsworth.

Barr Street climbed four points clear of the drop zone with a 5-2 win at bottom side Gomersal.

Andrew Wright (two), Luke Sansby, Zak Waddington and Andrew Lynch netted for Barr Street, with Gomersal replying through a Jonathan Wilson double.

In the Premier Division, Millbridge WMC climbed to second place, three points behind leaders Birkenshaw, following a 2-1 win at bottom side Woodman Batley Carr.

Luke Sherman and Gareth Saville netted for Millbridge, with Michael Foulstone replying for Woodman.

In the only other Premier Division game to take place, Overthorpe Sports Club came from behind to register a 3-2 win at Mirfield Town. Michael Rounding and Adam Brown put Mirfield in control, but strikes from Sam Sweeney (brace) and Kristian Angus ensured all three points went to the visitors.

In Division One, White Horse lead by two points after they won an ill-tempered game at Batley Irish Nash 6-2. Nash drop down to third place as Mount Pleasant climbed to second with a 4-1 win over Bay Horse East Ardsley.

Raees Lorgat (two), Abdullah Mayat and Adam Rawat netted for Mount, with Stephen Day hitting Bay Horse’s consolation.

The bottom two sides, Battyeford Reserves and Hightown, battled out a 3-3 draw which did neither side any favours.

Battyeford scored through Will Evans (brace) and Luke Duncan, with Jordan Midwood, Duane Fascione and Adrian Stowell earning a point for Hightown.

The new leaders in Division Two are Clifton Rangers who enjoyed an 8-2 victory against Scholes Athletic.

Anthony McMahon and Bradley Birkhead both hit hat-tricks for Clifton with a double from Matthew Shaw completing their scoring. Karl Ellis bagged both goals for Scholes.

Danny Stocks hit a brace as Black Horse shocked third placed Club Kirkheaton 2-1, with Craig Beggs scoring for the Huddersfield side.

Craig Fryer and Sean Hodgson both hit doubles as Overthorpe Sports Club Reserves won 7-1 at lowly Batley Celtics. Tristran Kennedy, Lee Kaye and Danny Marshall hit the others, with Danny Farnhill netting Celtics’ consolation.

Dewsbury Westside lead Division Three by a single point after they won 3-0 at Town Rangers.

Gomersal West are second following a 2-2 draw at Thornhill Trojans.

Chris Rodwell and Tom Wightman scored for Gomersal, with Trojans earning a point through Reece Patterson and James Heeley.

Hanging Heaton Cricket Club’s fine run of form came to an end as they lost 3-2 at Cobras. Tom Hartley bagged a hat-trick for Cobras, with Mark Inwood and Dave Hall replying for the cricketers.
