District Sunday Cups: Seacroft set up sizzling semi-final with HT Sports

SEACROFT WMC booked themselves a Leeds & District FA Sunday Senior Challenge Cup semi-final with HT Sports after eventually edging past Colton 5-2 after extra-time.

Colton, who are seventh in the second tier of the Leeds Combination, put up a fine fight against their top-flight hosts and netted through Josh Ridgeway and Mikey O’Brien in normal time. A brace from Scott Jones plus strikes from Mark Hill, Ryan Harwood and Salu Dawo eventually put Seacroft through.

HT progressed by obliging 5-3 at Chapeltown Fforde Grene’s Leeds Sunday League side for whom goals from Kieron Goodison, David Allanson and Kane Clark were ultimately in vain. Doubles from Jason Davis and Steve Palfrey plus a Paul Wills strike did the business for HT.

Hope Inn Whites will play the winner of January’s quarter-final between JB Celtic and Leeds City Rovers in the second semi final.

In the Leeds FA Sunday District Cup, thriving Whitkirk Wanderers booked their place in the semi-finals as Jordan Booth, Kingsley Wetherald and Ashley Hoddell all netted in a 3-1 triumph at KKS Zubry. The last four also awaits South Leeds Independents who obliged 4-0 at Kippax Band Club with a Danny Bray treble and Liam Connelly strike.

In the last 16, goals from Danny Blackburn, Josh Milsted and Tony Cuthbertson gave Amaranth a 3-2 win at home to FC Broadway whose Killian Mabey and Az Marez struck.

Efforts from Paul Brown and Ryan McGee gave Commercial a 2-1 success against visiting Oulton Athletic whose Liam Atkinson struck. Commercial will play Millshaw Park Rangers who went in 4-3 at New Parnaby with a Tom Snowden double plus goals from Adam Jarrett and Oliver Gill. Joe Wood, Jamie Davies and Gareth Wilkinson struck for the hosts.

In the Leeds FA Sunday Jubilee Cup last 16, Sporting Pudsey won 4-2 at Moortown Albion as an Adam Shaw double plus goals from Danny Coo and Nathan Jones outweighed home strikes from Andrew Houlding and Craig Fish.

Bramley Town progressed with a 6-3 verdict at Northern Star thanks to a Marc Wilson treble plus goals from Kris Robson, Nick Williamson and Dean Wardell. Two Danny Roberts efforts and a Stuart Brown spot kick failed to save Star. They will play Leeds Sunday League Championship leaders East Leeds Celtic who beat visiting West Leeds Wortley 4-0 with another Joe Phillips treble and a Carlos Simoes effort.

LSL side Kirkstall Crusaders romped through 10-1 at The Woodcock thanks to a Chris Meeson hat-trick and Martin Loveridge brace plus efforts from Anthony Williamson, Kyle Wilcock, Ash Thompson, Daniel Hart and Andy Halliday. Wortley Knights await after their walkover against Republica Internationale.

Western Juniors casued a surprise with a 4-0 triumph at Bramley Villagers, achieved by a Reece Lloyd double plus goals from Karl Ferguson and Jordan Hamilton. FC Horsforth Saints await in the quarter final after their walkover against RXA Redstar who have sadly folded.
