LEEDS United will travel to League Two high-fliers Rochdale in the FA Cup third round – for the first competitive meeting of the two sides for nearly 37 years.
Rochdale, fifth in League Two, will be big underdogs when the Whites make the visit over the first weekend in January.
And while Leeds won a friendly at Spotland in the summer of 2011, the two clubs have not met in a competitive fixture since August 1977 when the Whites recorded a 3-0 victory in a League Cup tie.
Prior to that clash, the two teams last met competitively way back in 1952 when Leeds were this time 2-0 winners in an FA Cup clash. Max Gradel got the only goal of the game when Leeds travelled to Rochdale for a friendly in July 2011.
Rochdale are managed by Keith Hill who was in charge of Barnsley until being sacked last December. Spotland, Rochdale’s home ground, has a capacity of just 10,249.
Elsewhere, the undoubted tie of the round pairs north London rivals Arsenal at home to Tottenham. Derby County were also handed a tasty tie at home to Chelsea while Sheffield United will visit Aston Villa.
