Saturday starts a new era at Leeds and it’s hoped Neil Warnock is backed by fans and chairman alike. He gave words of wisdom at half-time v Doncaster and made a few tactical changes, but this team will be the first he’s picked and it remains to be seen whether the players who have been ignored force their way in or whether he sticks with the majority of those regularly used by Simon Grayson, now in a new position at Huddersfield Town. We wish them both good luck.

Leeds make their third visit to the south coast this season after one loss and one draw so a victory against Portsmouth would complete the set.

The opposition continue to employ footballers they can’t afford and I would be delighted if Warnock could begin his tenure with all three points. There are numerous teams with better squads, form and points to realistically expect the play-offs. However, I am intrigued to see what Warnock can squeeze out of the inherited squad with a sprinkling of additions.

Leeds enter a new dawn under Neil Warnock when they travel to a Portsmouth side who are in crisis. They will be looking to build on the dramatic victory over Doncaster Rovers and it’s hoped that the influence of Warnock can guide them to another three points and closer to the play-off picture. Every player now has a clean slate and will be hoping to impress to get into the side. I firmly believe if Leeds work for each other and battle hard, they will return with three points.

Fresh from a rather fortunate victory last week, United head to Portsmouth with new manager Neil Warnock officially the captain of the ship. Pompey are once again in administration and following their 10-point deduction are firmly embroiled in a relegation battle. So beware the wounded tiger and United’s defence will need to be shipshape. As is normally the case, also prepare for a floodlight failure at Fratton Park.

Score Prediction: Portsmouth 2 Leeds United 2

The Warnock era starts for real as Leeds travel to cash-strapped Portsmouth. With our hosts in administration for the second time, expect the Leeds fans to be merciless in their subversion of the famous Chimes to “Pay Up Pompey”. On the pitch, Leeds will be looking for the win which Neil Warnock has said is imperative if we are to continue our pursuit of a play-off place. With spirits boosted by the dogged determination shown against Doncaster, I fully expect to get it.
