LEEDS United’s talented crop of home-grown youngsters have been earning rave reviews on social media this week – with Whites fans only praying the likes of Alex Mowatt and Lewis Cook are here to stay.

United’s side that beat Blackpool 3-1 last Saturday featured three Whites Academy graduates in Mowatt, Sam Byram and Lewis Cook with another emerging young star, Chris Dawson, on the substitutes’ bench.

The likes of Charlie Taylor are also waiting in the wings and with Mowatt and Cook bagging England Under-20 and Under-18s call ups respectively this week, United’s supporters are desperately hoping that this time the latest batch of bright young stars are here to stay.

Lieutenant Connor (@ctjm17) tweeted: “Just hope to god Leeds don’t lose Cook & Mowatt in the transfer window. We always seem to lose our best players #lufc #mot”.

Jon (@RhysJames_96) added: “Alex Mowatt attracting interest from both Everton and Aston Villa. Not surprised tbh. The kids got TALENT #lufc”.

And continuing on the same theme, but seemingly confident on his star man staying, James McCarthy (@bigmacca199) added: “Still rumours of Everton looking at Mowatt? They couldn’t afford his right hand never mind his beauty of a left peg #lufc #efc”.

Whatever the January transfer window brings, there is no denying the rising enthusiasm for youthful Leeds’ cause under Neil Redfearn.

Souleymane Doukara, Marco Silvestri and Liam Cooper are just 23 years of age while Sam Byram, Charlie Taylor and Brian Montenegro are all 21.

Chris Dawson and Adryan are 20 with Dario Del Fabro only 19 and Lewis Cook amazingly still only 17.

Ryan Pinnick (@RyanPinnicklufc) tweeted: “This Leeds team is exciting, Cook Byram Mowatt, Adryan, Doukara, Cooper, Taylor, Dawson, Silvestri all young plus Montenegro & Del Fabro #lufc”.

Keeping things rather more ‘Yorkshire-based’, Lee Wakefield (@Wakefield90) added: “As much as I love Adryan and like Bianchi; how much joy would come from us fielding a midfield of; Cook, Phillips, Mowatt and Dawson?! #lufc”.

The sky, it seems, is the limit, especially in the eyes of keen tweeter Lieutenant Connor (@ctjm17).

He put: “Without a doubt Mowatt & Cook deserved their England call-ups , Won’t be long until they are in the senior squad #lufc #mot”.
