Leeds United will take a late check on the fitness of Sam Byram and Rodolph Austin today with the pair doubtful for tomorrow’s game against Nottingham Forest,
Byram and Austin have completed light training sessions this week after suffering foot and thigh injuries respectively but Leeds head coach Neil Redfearn insisted he would not gamble on either player this weekend.
“Byram’s struggling so we’ll monitor him (today),” Redfearn said.
“Austin’s back running so we’ll have a look at him as well.
“We’ve got 10 games left. For the sake of risking them for one game and losing them for four, I’d rather have them fully fit for nine. But we want as many players available as possible because we want to finish well. We’re doing as much as possible to get the injured lads fit.”
Captain Liam Cooper has recovered from the hip injury which kept him out of last weekend’s 1-0 win at Wigan Athletic and Casper Sloth is over a minor groin strain.
Tommaso Bianchi (knee), Granddi Ngoyi (thigh), Zan Benedicic (knee) and Aidan White (foot) will all be missing again.
Ngoyi – Leeds’ January loan signing from Palermo – could make an appearance in an development-squad game against Nottingham Forest this afternoon.
