Leeds United have tonight completed a double deal by adding Lugano winger Ezgjan Alioski to the earlier signing of Samuel Saiz.
Alioski agreed a four-year contract at Elland Road hours after United secured another key target by sealing Saiz’s protracted move from Huesca.
Saiz had been in England since Monday following a delay in finalising the terms of the Spanish midfielder’s £3m transfer but Alioski tied up a quick switch after starting a medical this morning. United have paid Lugano an undisclosed fee for him.
The Championship side tracked both players throughout the early stages of the summer and a deal with Lugano moved towards completion late last week.
Alioski sat out of Lugano’s pre-season friendlies against Chiasso and AC Milan amid plans to travel to England and push through a move to Elland Road before United’s squad departed on their tour of Austria tomorrow.
United approached Alioski after seeing him weigh in with 16 league goals and 14 assists as Lugano finished third in Switzerland’s Super League last season.
He and Saiz have joined Leeds in time to fly to Austria and their arrivals complete an impressive week of transfer business at Elland Road.
Leeds aimed to conclude the signings of Saiz, Alioski and striker Caleb Ekuban before head coach Thomas Christiansen departed with his players for three friendlies on the continent.
Ekuban signed a four-year deal on Tuesday, joining from Chievo for a fee believed to be worth around £500,000. United’s incoming transfers this summer now number eight.
