TRIPLE boxing champion Josh Warrington is urging Leeds United’s players to keep their end of the bargain by beating Sheffield Wednesday as part of the city’s ‘Super Saturday’ tomorrow.

Commonwealth, British and English featherweight champion Warrington will bid to add the European title to his record when he fights Italy’s Davide Dieli at the First Direct Arena tomorrow night.

A large proportion of the 7,000-strong crowd will hot-foot it to the boxing venue from Elland Road where United season ticket holder Warrington is praying for the first win of new head coach Darko Milanic’s tenure.

The former John Smeaton High School pupil told the YEP: “I’m very confident of doing the business so let’s hope the Leeds lads pull their finger out and give a good performance.

“But I’d just say to the fans – make sure you take it steady because it’s going to be a long day by the time I take to the ring. Take it steady with them pints!

“I really hope Leeds get a good win over Sheffield Wednesday. That would be happy days and if I can win the European title then it’ll be a cracking Saturday.”
