WHITES legend Eddie Gray sees no reason why Leeds United cannot return to Championship action with another decent home win against Blackburn Rovers.

Rovers sit three places and two points above Leeds in tenth but Gray knows high-flying Bournemouth, Middlesbrough, Derby County and Ipswich Town have already been sent tumbling at Elland Road.

And while Gray has previously stressed his concerns about dealing with sides with pace, the former Whites winger says that speed is not one of Blackburn striker Jordan Rhodes’ key attributes.

United have also been in fine form since the turn of the year – winning eight of their last 13 league games – and Gray told the YEP: “Blackburn will be a tough game but there’s no reason given the form we are in why we can’t win it.

“Blackburn are among a few sides in the league, similar to ourselves, who probably wish they had done a little bit better.

“They’ve had a fair outlay in terms of they have got some expensive players and Jordan Rhodes can score goals as we know.

“But Jordan is not the quickest, even though he’s a great goalscorer.

“It will be a tough game but we’ve got home advantage and we’ve proved before at home that we are capable of beating anybody.”
