THOMAS CHRISTIANSEN has challenged new recruit Vurnon Anita to achieve a second successive promotion, admitting the Dutch ace was recruited to Leeds United in light of his success with Newcastle United.
Anita became United’s sixth signing of the summer on Thursday following earlier deals for Felix Wiedwald, Mateusz Klich and Madger Gomes plus former loanees Pontus Jansson and Hadi Sacko.

Anita, 28, arrived at Leeds after leaving Newcastle and becoming a free agent, despite playing 27 league games last season as the Magpies won the Championship title.
The former Ajax player and Dutch international has signed a three-year deal at Leeds and Whites head coach Christiansen hopes a second promotion in succession will be earned as a result.
“Everyone knows him,” said Christiansen.
“He’s a good player, he can play in different positions and he has the skill and the right attitude and the experience.
“He also got promoted with Newcastle and that is also something that we want from him now. I am very, very pleased to have him.”
Reflecting on how the club’s two other main new signings had settled in - Klich and Wiedweld - Christiansen added: “Until now, what they have shown - I am happy with that.
“Of course, there’s a lot of things to work on and they have to find their space to have a house and car and everything and then of course on the training ground we have to improve.
“But with the skill they have, they will for sure help the team.”
