The 29-year-old has fallen considerably down Whites head coach Garry Monk’s pecking order since starting the club’s opening Championship game of the season which resulted in a 3-0 loss at Queens Park Rangers.

The former Brentford midfielder has failed to make any of Monk’s 18-man match-day squads since and is now interesting the Millers.

Diagouraga had previously been linked with a move north of the border to Rangers under former Bees boss Mark Warburton but Rotherham are clearly leading the way to land his signature.

United hope to offload the defensive midfielder before tonight’s 11pm transfer deadline, strengthening the possibility of bringing in new recruits elsewhere.

Leeds are also ready to listen to any interest in club captain Sol Bamba who has also fallen way down the Whites pecking order and failed to make Saturday’s match-day squad for the 3-1 loss at Nottingham Forest.
