TAKE the glass half full approach and throw a pound or two at Leeds United to reach the Championship play-offs at 16-1.

United are obviously going to need a dramatic change of fortunes to get into this season’s top six considering they are eight points behind sixth-placed Brentford.

Perhaps even more importantly, there are another eight teams in between Brentford and 15th-placed United and even if the Whites do go on a mesmerising run, so too could some of the teams in between.

But it’s not like we are being asked to take a short price about Neil Redfearn taking Leeds to the play-offs and those quotes of 16-1 could very soon change.

True, if United are hammered at Blackburn Rovers next Saturday then 20-1 might be on offer but there’s a quiet new confidence sweeping Elland Road at present amidst a plethora of exciting youngsters emerging.

If United can win at Blackburn – and that’s definitely possible – then the Whites could be looking at a five or six-point gap to the play-offs and victory at home to leaders Derby County the following Saturday could really make the bookies sit up and take notice.

Again, in a division like this, anything is possible, no matter how lethal Derby looked when cutting apart Wolves 5-0.

There will be Whites fans saying we are living in dreamland even considering the prospect of the play-offs and everything does indeed point towards next season being ‘the’ year.

But it’s not like we’ll go penniless investing at the stand-out 16-1 on offer with BetVictor who often seem to be the best price for all things Leeds.

Let’s hope now is the time to take advantage.
