Leeds United striker Chris Wood scored the only goal of the game as New Zealand triumphed against Oman.
It was the first win for the All Whites in 2015, outside of the Pacific Games, and came against a side who had yet to lose in their five 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Wood followed up his goalscoring display against Huddersfield Town on Saturday by scoring only five minutes into the game.
In what was expected to be a difficult game for the Kiwis, the former Leicester City man beat the offside trap to score.
It was a battling display from the forward, who was made captain for the game at Al Seeb Stadium in Muscat.
New Zealand spent the majority of the game under pressure from Oman, but held out after Wood’s opener to net their first victory under coach Anthony Hudson.
