Huddersfield Town v Leeds United: Back the Whites for derby glory

LEEDS UNITED look cracking value at 31-10 to stop the rot away from home and win at Huddersfield Town on Saturday.

The Whites can be backed at bigger than 3-1 largely because of a rancid away record that remains the second worst in the Championship with just seven points amassed from a possible 39.

That’s a grim return and only Blackpool have fared worse on their travels but there’s no denying that United are improving away from home, as illustrated in the recent draw at Bolton and 1-0 FA Cup loss at Sunderland.

The Whites probably deserved more than they returned with in both fixtures and you sense an away win is imminent, especially now that Neil Redfearn’s side will have been further boosted by an excellent 1-0 beating of leaders Bournemouth at Elland Road last Tuesday.

And while Huddersfield are going reasonably well sat five places and five points better off than Leeds - and with a game in hand - the Terriers look way too short at the general evens.

It’s not like Chris Powell’s men are invincible at home where Bournemouth, Middlesbrough and Birmingham have all won this term and for all that they are going well, the Terriers remain inconsistent.

A win has often been followed by a defeat of late and there’s no hesitation in putting Leeds up to win, even amidst the no doubt madness of a Yorkshire derby.

A draw at 5-2 with BetVictor and Betfair will appeal to plenty but BetVictor’s 31-10 about an away win looks a stand out and hopefully one of the best value footy bets of recent weeks.

A slight worry for United could be the defensive changes and a lot will depend on how Sol Bamba’s debut goes.

In the circumstances it would seem reasonable to expect both teams to score at 10-11 with Betfred and William Hill.

And it’s very surprising to see in-form Luke Murphy as big as 25-1 to net first with various firms and 9-1 to score any time at all with BetVictor.

He makes plenty of appeal at those odds in light of his stunner against Bournemouth.

Here’s hoping for another.
