Christian Fuchs has warned that there can be no more slip-ups for Leicester City as they attempt to beat Leeds United to automatic promotion.

Leicester, Leeds and Ipswich Town have all started to stumble under the pressure with just weeks of the regular Championship season remaining. All three were on course to top 100 points but after a week in which none of them won from six games combined, that is no longer possible.

Enzo Maresca’s side lost both their games at relegation-threatened Millwall and Plymouth Argyle last week but were let off to see Leeds pick up just one point from home matches against Sunderland and Blackburn Rovers. Two teams will eventually have to pull away from the pack and Fuchs admits any more dropped points could prove fatal.

“It's not only been an interesting weekend in the Premier League but also in the Championship,” Fuchs told Sky Sports. “Defeat for Leeds at home to Blackburn [as well as Leicester’s defeat at Plymouth], so it's getting very interesting.

“Leicester still have one game in hand, that is definitely a bonus for them. But I don’t know how many times you can slip up and still come out on top. That now needs to come to an end.

“Leicester need to start winning their games in the run-in and I'm sure they are aware of that. As a former Fox I wish them all the best but it's going to be a tough undertaking for me.”

Leicester can open up a four-point gap from Leeds this weekend, with Daniel Farke’s side not at Middlesbrough until Monday evening. But a quirk of the fixture schedule means the Whites then play twice before anyone else and so can even go top with back-to-back wins at Boro and then QPR.

Ipswich were due at Coventry this weekend but the latter’s FA Cup commitments - they face Manchester United in the semi-final at Wembley - has seen it postponed, meaning Kieran McKenna’s side have a near-two-week break between fixtures. It is looking increasingly tight at the top and Leeds will need to rediscover their form if they want to avoid play-off drama.
