Former Leeds United prospect Elliot Kebbie has joined Hull City on a deal until the end of the season.
The 19-year-old full-back – once seen as one of United’s most talented junior players – has linked up with Hull’s development squad after a short spell in Spain with Atletico Madrid.
Kebbie left Leeds and moved to the continent with his family in 2011 having initially agreed to begin a scholarship with United at Thorp Arch later that year.
Linked repeatedly with a move to Manchester United, Kebbie underwent a trial with Barcelona before signing for Atletico at the age of 17.
The Spanish club paid Leeds compensation in the region of £500,000.
A bout of glandular fever affected his progress in Madrid, however, and he was released by Atletico last year. He has joined Hull on a free transfer.
Interviewed last year, Kebbie insisted he had no regrets about turning down a scholarship at Leeds, saying: “Spanish football suits my game as I’m a full-back but I like to get forward.”
