Leeds United striker Marcus Antonsson has joined Blackburn Rovers on loan.

Antonsson will spend the whole of this season at Ewood Park after failing to find a place in the plans of United head coach Thomas Christiansen.

Christiansen used Antonsson sporadically in pre-season but did not take the forward to Bolton Wanderers last weekend and left him out of Wednesday’s Carabao Cup win over Port Vale.

Antonsson, who has two years left on his United contract, struggled to make an impression at Elland Road after signing from Kalmar last summer, scoring three times in 21 appearances.

A number of Swedish clubs were interested in signing him before the end of the transfer window but he has linked up with Tony Mowbray’s Blackburn for what Rovers hope will be a promotion campaign in League One.
