LEEDS United midfielder Luke Murphy is poised to make his first appearance of the season in Thursday night’s first round Capital One Cup clash at Doncaster Rovers.

Murphy missed the entirety of the club’s pre-season after injuring his knee during training at Thorp Arch and having to subsequently undergo an operation.

However, the quickly improving 25-year-old featured for the team’s Under-21s side against Ipswich Town on Monday evening and is now poised to resume first team action at the Keepmoat.

Rosler said of Murphy: “I’m very happy with him. I watched him and in general it was a good game from our Under-21s.

“And for me the highlight was that Luke Murphy came through it in a good manner. I think he performed well, he looked sharp for 60 minutes and he didn’t have any problems afterwards.

“He trained on Tuesday, he trained today and I think that gives me an opportunity for tomorrow to maybe involve him at some stage in the game to give him match experience.

“We see who we pick tomorrow for the 18-man squad and for me I am delighted to have Luke as a possible member of that 18 man squad.”

Rosler also confirmed that new signing Stuart Dallas would definitely start on Thursday evening saying: “I can confirm that Stuart Dallas will start because he needs more matches. He’s in good form, like our supporters have seen and for him to start is a good opportunity for us.”
