Blackpool reject Leeds United's Grayson approach

Simon Grayson is poised to be named as Leeds United's new manager - but Blackpool have rejected United's approach.

The Blackpool boss has been heavily linked with the position today after bookmakers reported a flood of bets on the 39-year-old replacing Gary McAllister at Elland Road.

Grayson, who began his playing career with Leeds, is understood to be ready to accept a move to Yorkshire, provided United and Blackpool can agree compensation.

A statement released on the Blackpool FC website said: "Following widespread media speculation surrounding Leeds United's interest in Simon Grayson, the club can confirm Leeds United have approached the club in respect of its manager and the approach to speak to Simon and or his representatives has been firmly rejected.

"The club will be making no further comment at this stage."
