Birmingham City drew first blood against Leeds United as their Under-21 side claimed a 3-0 win at Thorp Arch.

City, whose first team travel to Elland Road this Saturday, won with the help of two goals from striker Koby Arthur.

Former Leeds captain Jason Pearce was included in United’s development squad line-up, while out-of-favour midfielder David Norris – now into the last six months of his contract at Leeds – completed 90 minutes in the centre of midfield.

United were denied a consolation goal when Kalvin Phillips’ late penalty was saved by Blues’ goalkeeper Nick Townsend.
