Boss Lee Clark is hopeful of ending the festive season in style as Huddersfield Town target six League One points in the space of three days.

Town first entertain eighth-placed Carlisle United tonight and approach the game boosted by Boxing Day’s 1-0 victory at home to Chesterfield.

The win over the Spireites banished the memory of recent defeats to Charlton and Bournemouth with Clark also hoping three points are forthcoming on Monday when the Terriers visit ninth-placed Notts County.

“Hopefully we have our pre-Christmas blip out of our system and can pick up some wins over the festive period,” said Clark, whose men currently sit fifth but only two points behind second-placed Sheffield United.

Town, who rejected a bid from West Ham for the services of Jordan Rhodes yesterday, will be looking to their in-form front man to add to his goal tally tonight.

“Create chances and Jordan Rhodes will score for us,” said Clark simply.

“What’s the point in having one of the best strikers around if you don’t create chances for him?”

Clark will have left-back Liam Ridehalgh available with the 20-year-old’s loan deal at Swindon Town having come to an end.

The defender’s deal with the Robins expires today.

Striker Jimmy Spencer, though, has extended his loan spell at Cheltenham until the end of the season.

Chris Wood celebrates his opening goal.
