A five-a-side football league in Leeds is offering teams a huge financial incentive to complete their fixture list.

The city’s two Powerleague centres - at Wellington Bridge Street in the city centre and Limewood Approach off the ring road - are offering all sides in a new league the chance to win £50,000.

To qualify, teams must simply play all 14 of their games, and will be entered into the UK-wide prize draw even if they have not won a match or scored a goal. The giveaway was introduced after Powerleague members complained about fixtures being cancelled because of player unreliability.

Director Caspar Nelson said:-

“Players tell us they get frustrated with league five-a-side when the opposition fails to turn up because they can’t get enough players. This big cash incentive to turn up for all your games is designed to limit no-shows and ensure our league teams get their expected games and enjoy a good match.”

Teams, including newcomers, should sign up by September 25 at www.powerleague.co.uk.
