Featherstone Rovers: Midweek date angers Powell
The decision to rearrange postponed Northern Rail Cup ties for tomorrow night has upset Featherstone Rovers boss Daryl Powell.
Rovers had been due to begin their competitive season at Oldham last Sunday, but the game was called off due to a frozen pitch.
It is among four matches rescheduled for tomorrow and Powell said: “I didn’t want to play this midweek.
“I think it is ridiculous to expect players not to play for four months and then have two games in four days.
“If we had to play mid-week I would rather have played on Tuesday, but the RFL wouldn’t allow that.”
Powell is likely to stick with the side named for the original date, two days ago.
His side will back up on Sunday at home to Co-op Championship rivals Dewsbury Rams, who played at the weekend against Halifax and so do not have a midweek fixture.
