Featherstone Rovers lifted by season ticket rush

Co-op Championship title-hunters Featherstone Rovers have reported a season ticket boom.

Rovers officials say sales are on course for a 20 per cent increase on last year.

The rush for tickets follows Rovers' successful 2010 campaign, which saw them finish top of the Championship table before being pipped by Halifax in the Grand Final.

"Once renewals are complete and the customary last- minute rush is out of the way, it looks as though our 2011 season ticket campaign will have succeeded," said Rovers director Andrew McNeil.

"Working on our support base is a priority, from a business point of view and because we want as many people as possible to share being part of Rovers with us.

"It is all part of the snowball effect of our drive forward – we are determined to develop our stadium to make an un-ignorable Super League bid when the time is right and we are also determined to develop quality players and to keep them.

"An increased fan base isn't only a prerequisite for this, increasing that support base is part of our mission anyway."

Meanwhile, Rovers' 2011 squad numbers will be unveiled at a social evening at Big Fellas Stadium next Wednesday.

The event, which begins at 7.30pm, will give fans the chance to meet players, coaching staff and club officials. Admission is free.

Meanwhile, Rovers are offering amateur clubs the chance to play in curtain-raisers before games at Big Fellas Stadium this season.

Teams chosen will receive a guided tour of the stadium, a pre-match team talk from coach Daryl Powell, a signed memento and a post-match meal.
