horsforth held on to top spot in Division Two of the Aire-Wharfe League with a 67-run win over third-placed Pool.

At one point, the league leaders were on 69-3, as the wickets of Leon Harber, Chris Gordon and Gareth Lee fell in quick succession.

However, Ryan Sharrocks (73) and Mark Gilliver (59no) put Horsforth in control and their innings ended on 246-5.

Pool’s response could hardly have started any worse, as they lost openers Micky Hutchins and Charlie Bell with only four runs on the board. David Paynter’s knock of 71 was the pick of the bunch, but none of his team-mates even came close to matching his score. Pool eventually finished on 179-9.

Fourth-placed Skipton slumped to defeat against sixth-placed Adel by 92 runs.

Although the North Leeds outfit did not fire on all cylinders, they were indebted to Andy Laws, who contributed 85 to Adel’s total of 207-7. Skipton’s reply was poor, and they finished on 115. Adel consequently closed the gap on Illingworth to two points.

Knaresborough recorded a 35-run win over Thackley after Eben Martin scored an unbeaten 102 out of 217-7.

Despite Paul Naylor’s 50 not out, Thackley finished on 182-9 to leave them second-from-bottom, but only 10 points adrift of Tong Park Esholt and safety.

Ben Rhydding took the spoils against Tong Park, claiming a five-wicket victory. Tong Park’s top scorer was Ross Todd on 51, as they reached 212-9. The West Yorkshire side won with over five overs to spare, Red Bolton scoring 90 of their 213-5.

Harden (120-5) saw off bottom side Green Lane (117) to move ninth.
