A RECORD-BREAKING haul of 9-19 from Jared Warner helped Yorkshire Academy move to the ECB Yorkshire Premier League North summit following victory over Castleford.
The paceman became the first player to take nine wickets in an innings in league history and was only denied all 10 by the competition’s leading wicket-taker James Logan, who took the ninth wicket to fall.
Ex-Yorkshire spinner David Wainwright struck 63 for Cas, but the rest of their card imploded as they were dismissed for a mere 107 in reply to the Academy’s 233-5, with Harry Brook top of the shots with a century.
David Foster took 5-29 as Harrogate (175-7) inflicted a first league defeat of the season upon deposed leaders Sheriff Hutton Bridge (171).
Chris Booth (99) and Alex Collins (55no) put on 157 for the sixth wicket as York (225-6) overwhelmed Acomb (65) - with Charlie Elliot (5-27) and Ryan McKendry (4-38) blazing a trail with the ball.
Wakefield Thornes (288-8) continue to lead the way at the top of the ECB Yorkshire Premier League South following a convincing 160-run victory over Cleethorpes, dismissed for 128.
The win was headlined by a magnificent innings of 145 from David Toft, supported by James Wolfenden (47), the pair putting on 101 for the third wicket.
Overseas Akila Isanka then took centre stage with the ball, taking a fine 5-25.
