Phil Jaques will play for Yorkshire again this coming season.

Former Australia Test batsman Phil Jaques has confirmed he will retire from Australian first class cricket at the end of the current season to join Yorkshire.

The 32-year-old will play as a British squad member by virtue of his United Kingdom passport and will be joining up with fellow former Australia Test star Jason Gillespie, who will coach the county this season.

Jaques, whose parents are English, told the New South Wales website, cricketnsw.com.au: “At the end of the season I will be retiring from first class cricket in Australia to take up a contract with Yorkshire CCC as a local player on my British passport.

“I have made this decision with my family in mind and I’m looking forward to the next chapter of my career.”
