Champs reign in big clash

CHAMPIONS Caribbean remain top of the Leeds-West Riding Division One table after beating second-placed Savile Stars in the big battle of the day.

Savile Stars only managed 159 despite Tanvir Khan hitting a useful 46. The main problem came from Everton Whatley who took 3-55.

Sajeed Mahmood took 3-65 for Stars but an unbeaten 67 from Claude Davis saw the champs home by three wickets.

Elsewhere, second-bottom Pollington caused an upset with victory over Yorkshire Post (163) by 27 runs.

It was a landmark day for Stanley Falcons who finally notched their first win of the campaign.

They put on 113 and then skittled Notton for just 91.

Cookridge were restricted to 132-9 which Garforth reached inside 34 overs for the loss of two wickets.

Newton Hill were left 71 runs short at Netherton who had set a target of 233-9.

In Division Two, Stanley Falcons A also celebrated a win over Notton, this time beating their A team by four wickets.

Savile Stars A secured a 56-run win over Caribbean A whilst Cookridge A beat Garforth A by 28 runs.
