YORKSHIRE will begin their County Championship title defence against Worcestershire at New Road.

The White Rose county take on the promoted side from Sunday April 12 in a repeat of their opening fixture in 2011.

Yorkshire won by nine wickets on that occasion as leg-spinner Adil Rashid took 11 wickets in the match and the South African Gerard Brophy scored a brilliant 177 not out.

The game was also notable for Joe Root’s debut in Championship cricket, although the England star fell for a duck.

Yorkshire’s second Championship game in 2015 sees them make a quick return to the ground where they clinched the title last summer – Trent Bridge, Nottingham.

Yorkshire thrashed their opponents by an innings and 152 runs last season to seal their first pennant since 2001.

Yorkshire’s first home Championship match in 2015 is against Warwickshire, who came second last summer, closely followed by the visit of another newly-promoted side in Hampshire.

Worcestershire and Durham provide the opposition for the two annual Championship contests at Scarborough, while Yorkshire’s last match is at home to Sussex starting on Tuesday September 22.

Other notable dates include the T20 game against Lancashire at Headingley on Friday June 5.

The corresponding match last year fell foul of the weather, with Yorkshire hoping for better luck this time.
