Hope Price, 15, is celebrating winning the prestigious Junior ABA National Championship in Newcastle, having beaten opposition from the renowned Repton Club in the East End of London en route to success. And Andrew Beadnall – trustee of The Hunslet Trust – knows the triumph is particularly timely in light of featherweight professional champion Josh Warrington continuing to keep Leeds on the crest of a boxing wave.

Leeds fighters Nicola Adams and Qais Ashfaq also qualified for the Rio 2016 Olympics last weekend and Beadnall said of Price: “This is a tremendous achievement for him and of course for the amazing coaching set-up at the Hunslet Club in the very heart of our city.

“I was up at the Championship to support him and he was up against incredibly strong opposition. We have this amazing club in Hunslet which is bringing on thousands of children from a so-called deprived area. There is nothing deprived about the service they are given by the outstanding team of volunteers.”
