Inexplicably, several Temple players showed no appetite for the game and the team were spanked 18-0.
Strangely, the Under 16's showed a similar lack of appetite in their League game against Yorkshire Amateurs, collapsing to a 12 - 0 defeat following some disasterous goalkeeping errors.
To cap it all, while the teams were clearing up after the games, local yobs made off with around 60 worth of match and training balls.
Sunday 12th, October, just had to be a better day. And although the end results were similar, two defeats, the spirit and attitude of both teams was commendable.
In the Under 13's Millenium Cup, away at Gildersome Spurs, the Temple boys put on a gritty show.
With a superb sweeper display from Lewis Catterill and an inspiring midfield game by star player, Matty Ellis, they did not concede the game until the last 10 minutes when, exhausted, they allowed Gildersome 3 easy goals. Final score 5-1. Temple goalscorer: Tom Gordon.
In the Under 16's Minor Cup Temple played hosts to the mighty Farsley Celtic.
The result was inevitible, as usual in these early cup rounds, and Temple set themselves the target of keeping the Farsley score in single figures. Final score 9-0.
Man-of-the-match display came from by goalkeeper Danny Fisher on his debut appearance and some sterling work by the Temple central defenders, raised the team's morale for a spirited display.
