A week to forget for Old Headingley
After a run of three wins and two draws in their previous five outings, Old Headingley came back to earth with a bump as they lost two fixtures in a disastrous week.
Kippax Athletic 2–1 Old Headingley
Old Headingley 1–2 Kellingley Welfare
And the performances were every bit as disappointing as the results themselves.

In a midweek fixture away to Kippax Athletic, Old Headingley led and looked set for their first victory at a traditionally tough venue, only for a late collapse to see them concede two goals from set pieces in the closing minutes to hand victory to the hosts.

Playing with a somewhat makeshift lineup and changing their formation to fit around their limited personnel, Old Headingley put in a solid if unspectacular showing for the majority of the contest, but paid a heavy price for not adding to the advantage given to them by Gavin Johnstone's first half goal.
A great piece of forward play by lone striker Oli Seed saw him shield the ball and then hook a pass over his left shoulder which Johnstone ran onto and finished with his left foot after shimmying past a defender. However, the concession of needless free kicks in dangerous areas proved to be Headingley's downfall as two goals in quick succession as time elapsed gave the home side an unlikely victory.
Looking to bounce back from this defeat, Headingley hosted Kellingley Welfare but again performed way below the standard they had set for themselves in previous weeks.
Goalless at the break, the game was won by two second half goals for the away side, both well finished after exposing some slightly half hearted defending.
Rousing themselves in the final twenty minutes, Headingley got a goal back when Johnstone and Seed reversed their roles from earlier in the week and the latter got on the end of an effort that was trickling wide to net his first goal of the season.
However, a flurry of corners and balls into the penalty area could not see Old Headingley net themselves an equaliser and the visitors hung on for a well deserved and vital three points.
