Curtis Weston has left Leeds United to join Gillingham on loan, with fellow midfielder Robert Bayly set to head for Darlington on trial next week.
Weston has taken up the offer of a 28-day spell at Priestfield having failed to force himself back into the first-team picture at Leeds this summer, and Bayly could switch to County Durham after being invited to feature for Darlington in a friendly.
Bayly, 20, has been involved with United's senior squad throughout pre-season but is unlikely to be considered for a regular first-team role by Gary McAllister next term, and Darlington boss Dave Penney will assess the midfielder before considering a bid to sign him before the start of the season.
Darlington reached the League Two play-off semi-finals in May and look set for another strong campaign in the Football League's bottom tier, and a move north would give Bayly an increased chance of first-team football.
Weston's involvement at Elland Road has been similarly sparse and he is embarking on his month-long stay at Priestfield after being deemed surplus to requirements by McAllister.
The 21-year-old midfielder has 12 months remaining on his contract at Leeds but has not started a league match since the opening day of last season.
Meanwhile, United have confirmed that they paid an undisclosed fee to sign Argentinian striker Luciano Becchio from Merida.
The 24-year-old, who was originally thought to be available on a free transfer, agreed a three-year deal with the club on Thursday.
