Gary McAllister will keep tabs on trialist midfielder Jacques Maghoma – but has revealed that there are imminent plans to offer him a deal.
Leeds manager McAllister has run the rule over the Tottenham youngster, 20, in training at Thorp Arch and handed him a start in Tuesday night's home reserve encounter with Hartlepool United at Elland Road.

Spurs Academy product Maghoma is playing catch up after picking up an injury last term, but was a regular for the reserve side at White Hart Lane last term.

Maghoma played 81 minutes of the 2-1 loss to Pools before being replaced by homegrown youngster Jonathan Webb, and McAllister says he will monitor his progress.

The Leeds boss said: "He's somebody that's come on to the radar via Gwyn (Williams). We had a look at him for two or three days in training and it was sufficient to give him a place playing a game.

"We'll monitor him, but the midfield is an area where we're certainly very well blessed."

Meanwhile, top gun Jermaine Beckford has been named as the PFA 2UP League One fans' player of the month for September.

Beckford, League One player of the season in 2008/09, netted four goals in September.

PFA chief executive Mick McGuire said: "The League One player of the season last season has continued where he has left off, scoring 11 goals in league and cup games this season.

"His all-round play suggests he is destined for great things."
