Millwall were today set to complete the signing of Leeds United striker Tresor Kandol on a six-month loan.
United struck an agreement with their League One rivals late last night following an approach by Millwall boss Kenny Jackett, and Kandol is expected to take up the offer ahead of the start of the 2008-09 season on Saturday.

The Congolese international's future has been the subject of debate this summer after he missed the start of pre-season training with a virus and failed to appear in any of United's seven senior friendlies.

Kandol pulled out of Monday night's reserve-team clash with Guiseley – a withdrawal which is not believed to have been prompted by Millwall's interest – and Leeds have now sanctioned his temporary release to London.

Kandol played an important role in United's run to the League One play-off final last season, scoring 11 goals, but his involvement was limited under Gary McAllister and at least four other strikers are ahead of him at Elland Road.

Leeds have recruited Enoch Showunmi, Robert Snodgrass and Luciano Becchio this summer, and Kandol was not expected to play a major part at Elland Road had he remained with United this summer.

The 26-year-old was signed by Leeds from Barnet for around £200,000 at the start of 2007 and he agreed a new contract at Elland Road last season, tying himself to the club until 2011.

Sorry to hear that Kandol has left today. He should never have been allowed to wear the shirt in the first place. Sorry he ever signed for us.
