The cost of heating can be a worry for some people but there are ways of saving money without spending a penny.
Leeds residents have an opportunity to stay warm and save
money thanks to British Gas.
As part of the Government’s Energy Company Obligation (ECO), which is designed to make UK households more energy efficient, throughout September British Gas is insulating eligible homes in Leeds for free. Not only will this help to protect the environment but, as the measures can help the people of Leeds to save on their energy bills this winter, it means they will have more money to spend on the things they want.
British Gas is here for just a few weeks, so eligible people should apply for a free home survey by September 30 to guarantee that any insulation they’re entitled to receive is installed for free.
Once installed, you will notice the difference. However, insulation offers benefits throughout the year. Whilst homes will be warmer in winter, and help to save money by reducing energy bills, homes will also be cooler in summer.
Anyone can benefit from this free service – you don’t need to be a
British Gas customer, there is no obligation to take out any other product of service and you don’t even need to own your own home – just ask your landlord for permission.
The experienced Energy Experts at British Gas will give unbiased advice about energy efficiency systems that meet your needs. They’ll talk to you about solutions that are right for your home.
British Gas could even
help towards the cost of
clearing the loft and send you a cheque for £150 towards covering the cost of paying for assistance if you need it.
For those who already have loft insulation, this scheme could still be useful. If you have less than three inches of insulation it’s worthwhile having a survey carried out to make sure you have the right amount or to see if you need a top up.
Both loft and cavity wall insulation should take around half a day to
install. And once the installation is complete, British Gas installers will ensure any mess is cleaned up before they leave.
If you have been turned down for insulation in the past, don’t let that put you off. Some new improvements to installation means that British Gas may be able to help you now, so check to see if you’re eligible today.
