More than a thousand hopefuls entered the White Rose Young Fashion Designer contest but only nine can go through to the final - and we need your help to choose. Jayne Dawson explains how you can set a talented youngster on the path to success..
The judges in the region's top fashion designer contest have had their say - and now it is your turn to decide.

Six entrants have already been chosen out of a mammoth entry of 1,300 to go through to the final of the White Rose Young Fashion Designer of the Year, but there are still three places to fill.
The competition is open to youngsters aged nine to sixteen who are competing to have their sketched outfits made into real designs and to win the top prize of £500.

Entries have poured in from all over Yorkshire and beyond and the standard of entries was so high the judges, all leading fashion experts, had an extremely difficult job selecting six entries for the shortlist.

Designers Colin Wolfenden and Jamie Steward, stylist Bradley Taylor and Yorkshire Evening Post features editor Jayne Dawson finally made their selection - but now they are passing the rest of the task over to you.

Three more finalists are needed, one from each of the three age groups .

Study the designs here, choose your winner from each of the three categories and then tell us who you have picked
The three most popular will then compete in what promises to be a fabulous fashion finale at White Rose .

White Rose marketing manager Andrea Allison said: "Each year this competition has been run we have been delighted by both the number and the standard of entries.

"Yorkshire is a region full of talented youngsters and some of the stylish creations they design would not look out of place on an international catwalk.

"I do not envy the task of the judges and I believe the readers of the Yorkshire Evening Post will also have a difficult task selecting designs to shortlist."

All of the finalists will have their designs made into outfits which will be professionally modelled on the catwalk at the White Rose Autumn Fashion Show on September 27.

Judges will then select an overall winner and runner up.
The winner will receive a £500 cash prize, the runner up £250 and each finalist will receive a £50 prize.

The nine shortlisted outfits, which were all named by the children themselves, are pictured below:

9-11 YEARS

The Love Heart
Hannah Ralph, age 10, of Horsforth, has designed this white cotton dress with red hearts on it, which is teamed with a red leather belt. The sleeves are decorated with red beads and Hannah thinks the dress should be worn with red flip flops, a ruby ring, a heart necklace, dangly earrings and hair clips decorated with hearts.

The Rainbow Sizzler
Ileah Gondalia, age eleven, of Thornbury, Bradford, sees this dress being made of rainbow stripes of colour with a black diamond surrounded by rainbow-coloured sequins at the base of the halter neck. The back is decorated with more rainbow-coloured sequins. Ileah has accessorised her dress with a chunky black bracelet, black and silver dangly earrings, a black bag with silver diamonds round it and high-heeled shoes with diamond trim.

The Blondie
Sarah Roberts, age ten, of Stanley, Wakefield, has created this outfit which consists of a white halterneck top with orange pearl beading, a lime green jacket with black edging and lining and orange pearl buttons, and a net skirt in orange and white. Sarah would team her outfit with shorts or footless tights and finish with black and orange pumps.

12-14 YEARS

The Exclaimed!
Grant Holmes, aged 14, of Otley, Leeds, has designed this outfit featuring denim, ruffles and florals. The denim jacket has visible stitching and one red button, the floral corset is red and purple and has a front-zip and black lace trim, and the green skirt has frills in the same purple as the corset. Grant has finished his outfit with a Commando-style hat and a belt and bracelet in purple leather.

The Skinny Girl
Lai-Ting Lee, age 14, of Bramley, Leeds, has designed this puffball dress with shoulder straps and two buttons. Lai-Ting thinks the shape of the dress with its ruched fabric is so dramatic that no accessories are needed, though the dress could be worn over jeans.

The Black Fantasy
Fatou Manjang, age 13, of Holbeck, Leeds, has aimed this black party dress at other teenagers. It is strapless with a hemline falling into handkerchief points edged with pink, and has a matching pink sash. Fatou thinks it should be sold with free shoes and a free necklace which match the dress, to complete the party package.

15-16 YEARS

The All Hands On
Charlotte Paley, age 15, has created this quirky design which features a skirt which appears to be made of long green evening gloves, with a white underskirt. The top is made of similar gloves in purple, with the hands appearing on the shoulders and the lower back. The dress is decorated with strings of white beads. Charlotte sees the dress as being accessorised with an elegant hair decoration.

The Urban Rage
Kate Jones, age 16, of Drighlington, Leeds, has come up with this multi-coloured party dress . It features a large skull and crossbones on the aqua skirt, which has a blue net underskirt showing underneath. The wide pink waistband also has the word "Danger" appliqued on it. The corset top is strapless, but Kate has drawn it with a purple T-shirt underneath. She envisages the dress being teamed with pink over-the-knee socks with stars on them, and an arm band.

The Summer Loving
Hayley Mackowski, age 15, of Birstall, near Leeds, has designed a dress designed to capture the bright, bold feel of summer. It has a skirt made of fluorescent net pom poms and a top featuring blue satin braces and lots of beading and fabric paint. Hayley sees her dress as being worn with gold high heels and some stylish shades, but also thinks it would make a great festival dress.
