ROYALTY for-a-day Joe English and Emma Robertson led the procession for this year's popular Gipton Gala.

The packed event, organised by Gipton Together, was launched at 10.30am on Saturday with a parade from Gipton fire station which then made its way around the east Leeds estate before finishing at Fearnville Sports Centre.

Attractions ranged from a fairground, stalls and pony rides to displays by cheerleaders, majorettes, dancers and martial arts experts.

Joe and Emma had been chosen to be gala king and queen after their names were drawn from a hat.
