HE'S written chart-toppers for the stars, but now West Yorkshire songwriter Tim Daniel is hoping to be a big hit as himself.
Tim, from Mirfield, near Dewsbury, has written a string of hits for acts including Blue, Toploader, Delta Goodrem and Lemar and also supported Take That on their last sell-out tour.
But now Tim, who also had a spell in a boy band in Germany, has put together his own album to fully showcase his talent.
He said: "Everyone has been brilliant and my songs have been well received, but it's certainly not easy to make it to the top as a solo artist, even after writing songs for superstars."
Tim's debut single, Digging My Heels In, was released last month.
Although Tim, 30, been writing for as long as he can remember, it wasn't until he was 16 that a teacher at Castle Hall School in Mirfield persuaded him to go into the school studio and record one of his songs.
Ever since then Tim, who studied music at Greenhead College, Huddersfield, has been a professional songwriter.
And his talent for penning tunes has not been lost on another great British songwriter – Take That's Gary Barlow – who described Tim's debut album, Putting It to Bed, as "full of hits, obviously written from the heart."
He added: "Tim Daniel is an exceptional talent with a unique style of writing. As soon as I heard his songs, I just knew he'd be great on tour with us."
Elland-based marketing organisation Lick is helpingTim with his musical quest.
The firm's managing director, Linden Kitson, said: "I'm a huge fan of Tim's music, so when the opportunity came up for Lick to support him it was really a case of when, not if.
"So far we're helping to fund the print for the 75,000 door-drop leaflets Tim is producing and hopefully this will drive forward and raise awareness of what a great talent he is."
Putting It To Bed was released last week.
Praising the support he has had from Lick, Tim said: "It will be the push I need to begin opening doors to the cream of the music industry."
