The trademark outfit worn by character Foggy from Last of The Summer Wine is being put up for auction on eBay to raise charity cash.
Foggy was played by Brian Wilde, who died last year aged 80.

The popular character was a fixture in more than 100 episodes, co-starring with Bill Owen and Peter Sallis.

Brian's widow, Eva, sadly suffered a stroke earlier this year and died in the summer.

The actor from Hertford was a great supporter of the charity Hft which helps people with learning disabilities and their families.

His close friend, 79-year-old school teacher Andrew Hambling, who has a
45-year-old son with special needs, Rory, worked as an editor on the long running BBC hit sitcom.

Mr Hambling said: Brian was a great fan of cricket and arranged charity cricket matches to raise money for Hft. He attracted some wonderful stars to support him ranging from Ronnie Corbett to Kathy Staff who played Norah Battye.

"After Brian's death, Eva asked the BBC for his Last Of The Summer Wine costume so they could auction it off for charity. Its what Brian would have wanted and is a wonderful gesture."

He died in his sleep of natural causes in March 2008 after failing to recover from a fall seven weeks before.

Brian joined the show in 1976, leaving in 1984 to pursue other projects. He then returned in 1990 until 1997 when a bout of shingles forced him to give-up.

Foggy, with his 'lightning reactions of a trained soldier' was the perfect foil to Bill Owens carefree, shabby Compo and Peter Sallis as the wry Cleggy.

A former soldier, his character bragged about his heroic exploits in Burma during the war, although it was revealed that he was little more than a sign writer.

Quietly pompous and sometimes bombastic, he introduced military tactics into the trio's madcap adventures.

The eBay auction of Foggy's clothes will start at 8pm on Thursday, November 19, and will last for just 10 days, finishing at 8pm on Sunday, November 29.

The clothing will be listed on ebay under TV memorabilia and type in the words Brian Wilde clothes into the search box to find.

All the money raised from the auction will go towards Hft which works with over 1,000 people with learning disabilities across the UK and with more than 4,000 family carers through its Family Carer Support Service.
