DAILY TELEGRAPH: The Premier League were forced into a humiliating climbdown last night in their attempt to play fixtures overseas after they pulled out of a showdown meeting with FIFA president Sepp Blatter less than 48 hours before it was due to take place. Also: Thaksin Shinawatra, the Manchester City chairman, faces arrest when he returns to Thailand tomorrow for the first time in 17 months to fight corruption charges.

DAILY EXPRESS: Roman Abramovich will back under-fire boss Avram Grant with a £100million spending spree this summer - if the Israeli can keep his rocking ship afloat and ensure Champions League football next season. Also: Richard Scudamore has promised to think again after striking a secret deal with FIFA president Sepp Blatter over globalisation of the Premier League...Tottenham will have to bring Dimitar Berbatov in line with the club's top earners as part of their bid to keep him at White Hart Lane.

DAILY MIRROR: William Gallas has been hit by an angry dressing room backlash from his Arsenal team-mates. Also: Avram Grant cancelled his coaching lessons in Israel this week to quell the growing player unrest at Stamford Bridge...Furious Middlesbrough chairman Steve Gibson has hit out at the FA's "amateur and silly little men" for increasing Jeremie Aliadiere's ban to four games.

THE INDEPENDENT: FIFA last night left the door open to an "international round" of Premier League games overseas with a cordial statement that welcomed the Premier League's request to postpone a meeting on the issue, scheduled for tomorrow.

THE TIMES: Lord's, the most famous cricket ground in the world, is to be radically redeveloped over the next ten years at a cost of more than £200million. Also: Discussions will continue between Tom Hicks and Dubai International Capital (DIC) over the coming weeks, despite the Liverpool co-chairman's vehement insistence last night that he is not about to sell his stake in the club.

THE SUN: Henk Ten Cate last admitted he had a furious F-word bust-up with Chelsea skipper John Terry. Also: Dimitar Berbatov is eyeing a bumper pay deal after pledging his future to Spurs.
