DAILY EXPRESS: Jermain Defoe made his mark by scoring twice in England's comfortable 3-0 victory over Trinidad and Tobago last night. Also: Frank Lampard has admitted that he is tempted to by the prospect of linking up again with Jose Mourinho when the former Chelsea boss is confirmed as the new manager of Inter Milan. Wales' young guns crashed back down to earth with a bump as Holland taught John Toshack's side a lesson.

THE TIMES: Cristiano Ronaldo has raised alarm bells at Manchester United by declaring that he hopes to make an announcement on his future within "two or three days". Also: Poor Usain Bolt. He produced the most lip-smacking, jaw-dropping, mind-numbing sprint in history in New York on Saturday night but is the victim of a timeline of cheats and liars.

DAILY TELEGRAPH: Jack Warner, a vice-president of Fifa, football's governing body, has urged the Football Association to make David Beckham the figurehead of England's 2018 World Cup campaign. Also: Ambitious plans are being drawn up for the Indian Premier League to extend their sporting interests beyond cricket as the franchise owners look to cash in on the popularity of football on the subcontinent.

THE GUARDIAN: The season felt unduly extended by so long a journey, but England made short work of winning this game with Trinidad and Tobago. Also: Motorsport's governing body is deeply divided on whether to retain Max Mosley as its president, according to a poll carried out by the Guardian.

THE INDEPENDENT: The world 100 metres record was reduced to 9.72 seconds on Saturday night by an athlete who does not start properly, slows down before the finish and is not even supposed to be running the distance seriously.
