Hat-trick hero Jordan Tansey reckons Leeds Rhinos are starting to hit the sort of form which could take them all the way to the Grand Final.
And he has set his sights on being part of this year's Old Trafford spectacular, after missing out on Rhinos' title glory last year.

Tansey scored three tries as a substitute in the 54-12 win over Castleford Tigers three days ago, which ensured Rh
inos will finish in engage Super League's top-two.

He believes that win was a sign that Rhinos are coming good at the right time, after a mid-season slump.

Said Tansey: "We had a bit of a down period and we lost a few games, but I think last week against Bradford we had half a game when we showed real quality and we did it again against Castleford.

"Hopefully on Friday against Wigan we'll up it again and we'll keep going now into the play-offs."

Rhinos still have hopes of overhauling league leaders St Helens, according to Tansey.

He said: "We had a pretty big win on Friday and we don't know what Saints are going to do for the rest of the season.

"We haven't classed ourselves as having finished second yet, there's still a chance for top-spot.

"If not, we'll take second, play Saints over there in the play-offs and hopefully beat them and get straight into the final."

Tansey made 22 appearances for Rhinos last year, but wasn't selected for the Grand Final.

He been in and out of the side again this year, but is hoping his three-try feat against Tigers will inspire a strong end to the campaign.

"It will be good for me," he said. "I was very happy with the hat-trick against Cas, it is always good to score, no matter how many, but to get a hat-trick was really good.

"It's difficult for me to get into the team. It depends who's back, but I'll give 100 per cent effort, hopefully I'll get picked for Wigan, I can play good and I can stay in for the rest of the season.

"I haven't played much, but when I have played I've got a bit of time, so it has been an up and down season.

"I just want to stay in the team all the way to the end and hopefully get in the team for the big game, which is the Grand Final.

"We have missed out on the Challenge Cup, which we were all disappointed about, so the Grand Final is our only goal left.

"I think everyone's striving to get to Old Trafford and hopefully I won't miss it this year."

Meanwhile, Leeds' hopes of finishing the regular season in top spot received a big blow as leaders St Helens beat Harlequins 32-16 at The Stoop yesterday.

Saints recorded their 19th straight win and ended their hosts' play-off hopes in the process after bouncing back from a 10-point half-time deficit.
