LEEDS RHINOS grabbed the glory when they pulled off their amazing Super League Grand Final triumph against St Helens on Saturday – but amateur RL neighbours Queens were left fuming.
Yorkshire Cup holders Queens, based on Burley Road, were forced to sit out the weekend because their cup tie with Birkenshaw was called off late in the week to allow their opponents' trip to the Grand Final to go ahead.

The amateur game's governin
g body, BARLA, approved a handful of postponements so Queens' match bit the dust.

Queens secretary Dougie Smithson said: "To allow postponements is just ridiculous and should not happen."

Batley Boys went down 24-32 at home to Upton from the Pontefract area.

tryscorers for Upton were Adam Hinchliffe, John McDermott, Jack Birkby, Ross Johnson, Steven Beal – who added four goals – and Scott Lynch. Steve Beard, Craig Newsome, Adam Lister and Gareth Wilson replied, Lister and Wilson sharing four goals.

Drighlington beat Wibsey 42-24 and now face Hull Dockers – who pipped Ackworth 29-28 – in the quarter-finals on October 18.

Hunslet Old Boys, who also had a free weekend, must beat Slaithwaite Saracens for the right to travel to last year's beaten finalists Sharlston Rovers, who saw off St Josephs 30-15. Hunslet Warriors, too, are a week behind. If they beat Dewsbury Moor they face Upton away in the quarters.

Cutsyke and Lock Lane crossed swords in the Castleford Open Cup with Cutsyke winning 38-16.

Danny Huby opened the scoring with a try and conversion and, though Lane hit back with a Rob Arthur try, Cutsyke established a 16-4 interval lead with further tries by Jason Banks and Stuart Davies.

Aaron Thirling crashed over for Cutsyke in the second half and then Davies scored his second try, with others falling to Gareth Handforth and Neil Pyecroft, who raced 90 yards to the line after intercepting. Huby finished with five goals.

Scott Horner and Johnny Jones replied with touchdowns for Lane and Dale Hogan kicked two goals.

In the Yorkshire League, Hunslet Warriors A lost 21-12 at home to Rockware Stolzle, of Knottingley. Nathan Carver and Caldon Bravo went in for the Warriors' tries which James Thirwell converted.

But Stolzle hit back with tries by Keith Brown (2), Dave Skelton and Danny Aldred.

Gavin Lightowler added two goals and a drop goal.
