Yorkshire League leaders Queens were within four minutes of their first league defeat of the season but half-back Jonathan Milner's try earned a 22-20 win over Moorend Marauders.
Moorends, who took an early lead through a try by Sean Carey which Ryan Rafferty goaled, led 13-12 at the break.

Queens' tryscorers were James Brown (2) and Milner (2), Milner adding three goals. Moorends other tries came from Rafferty and Wayne
Green, Rafferty tagging on two goals and Green landing two drop goals.

Doncaster Toll Bar and Oulton Raiders A earned a point each from their 24-24 in Division Two.

Methley Royals, who were without a game at the weekend because Swillington couldn't raise a team, will host Irlam Hornets in the second round of the BARLA National Cup on December 13.

In Division Three, Whinmoor went down 23-22 at home to Ryhill Hammers, player-coach Andy Wright landing a 78th minute match-winning drop goal.

Neil Bellaby (2), Matt Savage, and Alan Garratt scored Whinmoor's tries, Squires adding three goal. Dean Walker, Mick Hardacre, Shaun Crossland, and Wright touched down for the Hammers, Walker landing three goals.

In the Pennine League, Sharlston Rovers battled to a 26-10 win at New Earswick All Blacks of York in the Premier Division.

Outstanding second-row Sam Whitehouse scored a hat-trick of tries as Sharlston A trounced Salford outfit Cadishead Rhinos 44-0 in round one of the BARLA National Cup.

Sharlston's other scorers were Phil Hill, James Heath, James Byrom, Chris Shaw and Stuart Bailey, Tom Wandless kicking six goals.

Other cup games saw Birstall Victoria go down 46-12 at Bank Quay Bulls of Warrington while Knottingley were edged out 26-24 at Salterbeck Storm and Batley Boys were knocked out 25-12 at another Cumbrian club, Ellenborough Rangers.
