CHIEF executive Gary Hetherington expects double champions Leeds Rhinos to improve next year.
Hetherington described Saturday as "a proud day, an historic day and one to treasure" and he said: "In the last five years there's been 15 major finals and Leeds Rhinos have played in nearly half – seven – and won five.

"To win consecutive Grand Finals against a quality side like St Helens caps an outstanding season and there's little doubt this is the best-ever team to represent Leeds, which is a big call given the club's heritage and history.

"This is the best and we plan to make it better. The production line we've got is bringing through some outstanding players, who didn't play on Saturday but will be quality players in the not too distant future.

"We've got one of the world's best players in Danny Buderus joining us next year, plus another international in Greg Eastwood.

"Gareth Ellis and Nick Scruton will be a loss, but with what's coming in and what's coming through the system, I think our fans have got a lot to look forward to.

"The fans are part of history and I'd like them to know they are part of a marvellous team and a marvellous club."
