Second-bottom Hunslet Hawks will be within touching distance of a place in the Co-op National Two play-offs if they beat visitors Workington Town tomorrow.
A National League shake-up, announced this week, will see Division Two's top two teams promoted automatically, with those finishing from third to eighth taking part in the play-offs – the winners of which will also go up.

Last year, the league lea
ders received automatic promotion and the teams from second to seventh played-off to decide the other side to go up.

Workington occupy the eighth and final play-off place and are just four points clear of Hawks.

Hunslet coach Graeme Hallas described the extra play-off place as "an interesting scenario" and he added: "It certainly gives everybody a bit more to play for leading up to the end of the season.

"But we have got to be realistic as well. For me, we've lost too many games we were capable of winning.

"You've got to ask the question, do we deserve to be there?

"Mathematically, we are well in with a shout, but we have let ourselves down a few times as well."

Hallas was hoping to bring in a loan player in time for tomorrow's game.

Hawks will be without Nathan Larvin (wrist), Ben Lawton (ankle), Mark Cunningham (shoulder) and Jamie Bovill (groin), who were all hurt in Monday's loss to London Skolars.

Joe Helme (ankle) is rated as 50-50 and Anthony Thewliss is expected to play, despite a neck problem.

Hunslet Hawks (v Workington) from: Bramald, Aitken, Cook, A Robinson, Harris, Moxon, Hasty, Freeman, Wainhouse, Chapman, Helme, Thewliss, Walkin, Young, Ely, Gunney, Hirst, Watling.

Referee: Tim Roby (Preston).

Kick-off: Tomorrow, 3pm.
