Boss John Kear has denied Wakefield Trinity Wildcats have nothing to play for in tonight's final game of the season.
Wildcats are out of the top-six race and already have an engage Super League licence for next term, but Kear insisted his players are desperate to bow out with a home win over Leeds Rhinos.

"We have pride to play for," stressed Kear. "They have gi
ven us two good hidings and we need to improve on recent performances against Leeds.

"We want to finish the season with a good performance and that would then really allow us to reflect on the season in a positive manner, rather than a negative one.

"Last year, we got a good hiding by Leeds in our last game, over at Headingley, and we don't want a repeat."

Wildcats ended an eight-match losing run with a morale-boosting victory over Les Catalans Dragons in Perpignan in their most recent match, 13 days ago.

Kear is looking for his team to continue in a similar fashion this evening.

"We played well in France and got the result," he said. "There's not many teams go over there and win, I think there's only us and Leeds have done it in the second-half of the season.

"We are feeling pretty good about ourselves, but we are also fully aware we are playing a team in Leeds who are in pretty good form.

"At the start of the season they were outstanding. They had a blip and then came back and the game against us was one of the matches they came back in.

"They have had another blip, but it looks like they are back in good form and we know it is going to be pretty tough. It is about getting out there and getting a good performance."

Wildcats will be without Sean Gleeson and Paul Reilly tonight.

Kear said Gleeson has been told not to exercise for a month after suffering an eye injury against Catalans, while Reilly aggravated a neck problem in last week's Carnegie 9s.

Tony Martin returns to the squad after a foot injury and Jason Golden, Jay Pitts and Kyle Bibb also come into contention.

Batley Bulldogs have persuaded utility star Ash Lindsay to play on. Lindsay, 25, had been considering retiring to spend more time with his young family, but has now signed a new one-year contract, along with winger Ben Feehan.

Half-backs Paul Mennell and Mark Barlow have yet to confirm whether they will be staying with Batley, while centre Kevin King could miss next season due to work commitments.

Bulldogs are keen to re-sign Wakefield Trinity Wildcats' Aaron Murphy and Huddersfield Giants' Jermaine McGilvray on season-long loans.

Meanwhile Featherstone Rovers will name their new coach at a press conference on Monday.
