I was pleased to be asked to do the View From The Pitch column this week because it is the chance to thank everybody who has made my four seasons at Leeds so memorable.
The fans at Leeds have been unbelievable.

The Rhinos are really lucky that they get young Leeds lads coming through, who have been brought up in the city and who support the club.

To come in as an outsider – from a Castleford family who aren't big Leeds fans – and to be welcomed as I have by the fans has been great.

Everyone has been so welcoming and supportive to me and my family and I'll always be grateful for that.

There is no better atmosphere than at Headingley. The experience of playing there when it's full, for a game like the Bradford derbies, is unbelievable and it's something I and the rest of the players really respond to.

I will leave with many happy memories, with hopefully more to come on Saturday night. I was really happy at Wakefield, but I realised that to move on was the right choice. I came to Leeds thinking 'I hope we can win some trophies' and we have, but it has been more than that.

The people I've met along the way are what has really made me smile over the four years.

It's a fantastic club to be part of. Leeds are the best club in Super League and are definitely heading in the right direction.

That's why it was a difficult decision to leave, because I know they are going to be successful, the way the club is run and with the players they have got here – it is a recipe for success.

As for this weekend, I am trying to keep emotion out of it and just get on with my job. When you are playing St Helens in a Grand Final, you can't afford to do anything else.

I am not an emotional person, I am easy-going and laid back and I take things as they come, but when people keep talking about my last game, it does start to hit home.

However, the job in hand is so massive, it would be wrong of me to get too wrapped up in it personally. I owe it to the lads to be on my game, not do anything I wouldn't normally do and just make sure I do my job for the team to the best of my ability.

The Grand Final is an emotional occasion in its own right. It'll be a full stadium and a fantastic atmosphere and, having experienced it last year, it was the best feeling I've ever had.

The opportunity is there for us on Saturday and it's up to us to take it.

You go to a Grand Final to win it – and, if everything goes well, hopefully I'll remember to collect my gold ring this time.

Hopefully Saturday will be a good experience, that will live with me forever.
