A 44-24 win over Warrington Wolves at the Jungle last night completed what will be Castleford Tigers' only double of engage Super League XIII.
Tigers – who had triumphed 36-28 at HJ Stadium in May – were even more convincing victors than the final scoreline suggests, scoring 10 tries tries to four – winger Michael Wainwright bagging three of them.

Centre Michael Shenton had a big game fo
r Cas on his 100th appearance, handling in the build-up to five of their tries.

Luke Dorn, Stuart Donlan and Ned Catic – who are all expected to leave the club at the end of the season – were also influential for Tigers.

Cas were denied by video referee Ashley Klein after just two minutes when he decided Awen Guttenbeil had come from an offside position to touch down Ryan McGoldrick's high kick.

The penalty carried Wolves up field and on the final tackle Jon Clarke was halted just short, but managed to dump the ball back to Lee Briers.

He picked up and flicked out a pass aimed at Martin Gleeson, but Dorn intercepted on his own line and raced the length of the field for a spectacular try.

Kirk Dixon – who had been on target with his 10 previous attempts at goal over two games – missed the straight-forward conversion attempt.

Had Dixon brought his kicking boots, Tigers would have been out of sight at the break, but they had to settle for a 22-12 interval lead despite scoring five tries to two.

Dixon managed just one goal in the first half and Craig Huby fared just as poorly in the second half, also failing with four out of five attempts.

In contrast, Chris Hicks converted all four for Wolves.
Wolves led briefly when Clarke and Ben Westwood linked to carve out a try for Briers.

But Cas went back in front after Dorn's huge kick bounced away from full-back Hicks and Shenton picked up then hurled out a long pass which sent Wainwright over.

That was on 15 minutes and four later Tigers increased their lead through Donlan after a sweet build-up involving McGoldrick, Peter Lupton and Shenton, Dixon adding the goal. That was Tigers' 100th try of the season.

Klein gave Wolves the benefit of the doubt moments afterwards, awarding Chris Riley a try after Wainwright had failed to deal with Briers' kick.
Hicks's conversion cut the gap to two points, but Tigers pulled away with two tries in the final eight minutes of the half.

Quick passing across the line by McGoldrick, Dorn, Donlan and Dixon gave Wainwright his second try, then Shenton was tackled on the line, but dropped the ball backwards and Donlan touched down, Klein giving the green light.

Warrington gave themselves a glimmer of hope seven minutes into the second half, Briers and Michael Monaghan combining to send Matt Blythe over.

But teenage winger Richard Owen struck twice inside four minutes – either side of Briers' departure into the sin-bin, for a late challenge on Dorn following a kick.

Shenton provided the final pass on both occasions, then Catic rampaged over the top of Riley for Tigers' eighth try, Huby's goal giving the hosts a 36-18 lead.

Riley scored his second try on 63 minutes, but Cas made the game safe with six minutes left when Dixon crossed from a Huby's flicked pass.

Warrington finished with 12 men, Westwood being sin-binned two minutes from time for dissent, and Cas took advantage as McGoldrick and Dixon combined to send Wainwright in for his hat-trick in the final moments.
